Description

Please bear in mind that Agony is quite an "old school" game; non-linear, with a semi-open world, a lot of different paths, endings, exploration possibilities as well as secrets to uncover. Playing Agony is notably different than what you can get from modern, mostly linear and corridor-style horror games

STORY MODE

You will begin your journey as a tormented soul within the depths of hell, without any memories about your past.

The special ability to control people on your path, and even possess simple minded demons, gives you the necessary measures to survive in the extreme conditions you are in.

By exploring the hostile environment and interacting with other weary souls of the hellscape, the hero will soon understand that there is only one way to escape from Hell, and it will require meeting the mystical Red Goddess.

AGONY MODE

Agony features a full-fledged story mode as well as an open challenge system that
randomly generates levels for players to explore and survive to gain new Highscores. In
addition to featuring in countless “Most anticipated Horror Games 2018” lists, the kick
starter financed title is set to challenge players with its brutal and malevolent
environments.

Agony throws you in the midst of hell where you strive to stay alive
and solve the riddle behind the mysterious Red Goddess; architect of this place of sorrow
and pain, and the sole entity with knowledge of how escape… but there is more to the
story than it seems. Haunted by nightmare creatures, You will gain the ability to possess
demons and other souls to find a way out of hell.

I would say they got the atmosphere down pretty well, but there's little to no action in this game whatsoever. It's more of a walking simulator, which I'm not really a fan of. Story was also confusing. The voice acting was iffy at best. One really annoying feature is that throughout the game, you unlock checkpoints like every other game. However in this game, you can only respawn three times per checkpoint. After that, you have to restart the entire level. Also, the puzzles throughout the game are overly confusing and/or irrelevant.

I was really excited for this game, but in the end, it came out to be a confusing, walking simulator with wonky mechanics in an atmospheric hell.

Garder votre argent. Non vraiment.
Monstre beaucoup trop present a l'heure actuelle, des deplacement des mobs bizarre, des "graphisme" sympa mais pas si "ouf"
La map est un calvaire d'un point de vue orientation et deplacement

Really enjoying this game so far. Hasn't disappointed me in the first few chapters, there are some good suspenseful "hollywood" bits and pieces / decent atmospherics. I am also enjoying the Devs vision of such an underworld environment, it's dark / macabre but not ridiculous. The lighting effects are good, the ambiance is also pretty cool and goes well with the suspenseful feeling of the environment. In Martyr mode you certainly feel very very fragile and vulnerable. No charging around with insane powers / weapons and the like so far, "Hell" is very much more powerful than you in this game and you have to learn how to get around it. I particularly enjoy the sidestepping and gap squeezing you have to do, especially when you're being chased by a demon, it's pretty exciting and a good use of the map. I have seen such gaps, nooks and the like in other FP games, it's great to be able to use them.

The game is not perfect, I think the NPCs could look better & the voice acting could also have been a little better (regarding NPCs). Also the subtitles (if you have them on) don't always match with the voice which is a quality issue that should have been picked up.

Overall though, for the first few hours of play. I am glad I waited, £18 well spent and for this sort of price you might as well see what you think. it's hardly the most expensive title of the year and as such, it's worth a purchase.

  • Poor looking NPCs, weak voice acting at times

I'm extremely disappointed of this game! I was so excited to get it, even after being postponed for months, multiple times!

devs promised an uncensored patch at launch. today, i read that that's not possible due to "legal issues".

the game is also just like no man sky. the trailers showed something, now im playing something else. bad UI, horrible unreadable font, bad controls, stupid camera, NPCs are low quality assets, voice acting s.u.c.k.s.

the pros? maybe the sound and the world.. if they fix the brightness slider which wont work and currently makes the game so dark you cant even see where you go.

Agony is the biggest disappointment this year! AVOID!!
  • only 12gb
  • sound
  • everything is buggy
