The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a first-person story-driven mystery game that focuses entirely on exploration and discovery. It contains no combat or explosions of any kind. If our game leaves any scars, we hope you won’t be able to see them.
You play the game as Paul Prospero, an occult-minded detective who receives a disturbing letter from Ethan Carter. Realizing the boy is in grave danger, Paul arrives at Ethan’s home of Red Creek Valley, where things turn out to be even worse than he imagined. Ethan has vanished in the wake of a brutal murder, which Paul quickly discerns might not be the only local murder worth looking into.
Inspired by the weird fiction (and other tales of the macabre) from the early twentieth century, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter aims to significantly evolve immersive storytelling in games. While it features a private detective and quite a few mental challenges, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is not an especially puzzle-ridden game. Our focus is on atmosphere, mood, and the essential humanity of our characters.
Still, the discoveries won’t happen on their own, or without your help. Using both Paul’s supernatural skill of being able to communicate with the dead, and your own powers of observation, you will discover the mystery behind a trail of corpses, the roots of a dark ancient force lurking in Red Creek Valley, and the fate of a missing boy.

nmersivo juego de investigación. El nivel técnico (gráficos, voces, etc.) es impresionante. Altamente inmersivo. Me encantó. Solo encontré dos contras: 1. La duración del mismo, unas 4 horas. 2. Alguna caida de FPS.
De resto, es practicamente una obra de arte que le hace un buen guiño a H.P. Lovecraft y cuya inmersividad y preciosidad de cada escenario te dejará boquiabierto. Las voces en inglés están muy bien trabajadas.

Un juego intenso donde tienes que explorar mucho y ponerle mucha atención a todo... aún así me aburrió como una ostra, estás solo en el mundo entre tanto misterio, nada interesante para mi gusto. Prefiero aventuras gráficas más tradicionales.

Una de las mejores aventuras gráficas que he jugado en mi vida. Unos gráficos preciosistas (no por buenos, que también, sino por la ambientación, el colorido...) y un argumento muy bonito que zigzaguea entre la realidad y la ficción.

Llevo jugado un poco y la verdad es que engancha, muy original y con la version Redux muy buenos graficos. Es un juego en el que cada detallle esta muy cuidado. Las voces estan en ingles, pero casi mejor asi, por que algunas traducciones se cargan la interpretacion original. Muy recomendable

Hay experiencias jugables que han ayudado a redefinir los videojuegos tal y como eran concebidos hace años, como aquellos objetos de ocio sólo destinados a jugadores inmaduros y poco exigentes, o incluso destinados exclusivamente a un público infantil o adolescente.
Dentro de esta categoría es donde nos encontramos el juego que nos ocupa, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Una experiencia jugable donde nos metemos en la piel de Paul Prospero, un detective que debe imvestigar los extraños hechos ocurridos en Red Creek Valley.
A grandes rasgos el juego es similar a obras como Dear Esther o Gone Home, pero con un número mayor de componentes de aventura gráfica y puzzles de investigación. Así pues aquellos que no disfrutaran con este tipo de juegos en su momento o no lo consideren un videojuego, que se abstengan, ya que no disfrutarán la experiencia. Los que vieran una innovación o un buen juego en los dos juegos previamente mencionados verán en este una evolución de la fórmula jugable.
En el apartado audiovisual, es impresionante ver como el apartado artístico se conjunta con el técnico para crear unas imágenes preciosistas a cada paso que damos por el escenario del juego, de verdad, tenéis que verlo. En lo que a sonido se refiere, las voces en inglés son realmente buenas y la música muy adecuada para la ambientación del juego.
En cuanto a aspectos puramente negativos, su sistema de guardado, un tanto extraño, ya que sólo si avanzamos en la historia se guarda nuestro progreso, y su escasa duración, 5 o 6 horas, lo cual queda compensado por su precio, que considero adecuado.
Si buscas algo diferente, algo preciosista y que te meta de lleno dentro del monitor de tu ordenador, acompaña a Prospero a través de su investigación. Personalmente, te recomiendo que lo hagas.
