Three years ago. A scientist died in an accident during an experiment.
His research was on “Third Energy,” a completely clean energy source.
The accident occurred just as government funding had been cut off because the project was deemed unfeasible.
To the public, it was nothing more than an insignificant piece of information. Until now.

An agent dispatched to a small country in the South Seas to investigate a top-secret military project brought back surprising information.
At a military research facility in the Republic of Borginia, a scientist who was supposed to have died three years ago in our country has resumed his research activities in the field of Third Energy.
Regina, a member of the government's spy team, was tasked with retrieving the doctor.

She heads to the isolated island of Ibis, where the military facility is located.
The dark elite are trained for every conceivable challenge. For them, it is just another “job” as usual…

Uscito nel 1999 su PlayStation e nato dalla mente del papà di Resident Evil, Shinji Mikami, Dino Crisis fu presentato da Capcom come un vero e proprio "Panic Horror". Pur condividendo l'impalcatura tecnica e ludica dei survival horror dell'epoca, il gioco sostituì i classici zombie e mostri biologici con una minaccia ben più rapida, letale e imprevedibile: i dinosauri.

Panico sull'Isola Ibis

La storia segue la missione dell'agente speciale Regina, inviata insieme alla squadra SORT (Secret Operation Raid Team) sull'isola isolata di Ibis. L'obiettivo è catturare il Dottor Edward Kirk, uno scienziato ritenuto morto ma che ha in realtà proseguito in segreto gli esperimenti sulla "Terza Energia", una fonte energetica rivoluzionaria che ha finito per squarciare il tessuto spazio-temporale, catapultando spietati predatori della preistoria nella nostra epoca.

Il Gameplay: L'Evoluzione del Survival Horror

A differenza di Resident Evil, che utilizzava fondali bidimensionali pre-renderizzati, Dino Crisis compì il salto verso ambienti completamente tridimensionali in tempo reale, permettendo movimenti di macchina dinamici e inquadrature ancora più cinematografiche.

Minaccia Rapida e Imprevedibile: I Velociraptor non sono lenti come gli zombie: corrono, aprono le porte, possono disarmare Regina facendole cadere l'arma e inseguono il giocatore da una stanza all'altra.

Gestione delle Risorse e Sanitamento: Oltre alla salute standard, entra in gioco la meccanica del Sanguinamento, che richiede bende specifiche per evitare di lasciare una scia ematica capaci di attirare i predatori.

Mix e Dardi Anestetici: Le munizioni sono scarse e la potenza di fuoco spesso non basta a fermare i rettili più stazzati. Creare e utilizzare dardi tranquillanti diventa fondamentale per addormentare i nemici e fuggire anziché sprecare proiettili.

Enigmi e Sistemi di Sicurezza: L'Isola Ibis è un complesso altamente tecnologico protetto da codici DDK (Digital Disc Key), enigmi logici e schede d'accesso da recuperare analizzando i documenti rimasti.
