Hatred ist ein isometrischer Twin-Stick-Shooter, der mit seiner kompromisslosen Gewaltdarstellung und nihilistischen Thematik bewusst provoziert. Spieler schlüpfen in die Rolle eines Amokläufers – eine moralisch fragwürdige Prämisse, die das Spiel seit Veröffentlichung begleitet. Technisch solide, bietet es düstere Grafik, harte Action und herausfordernde Kämpfe, aber wenig spielerische Tiefe oder Abwechslung.

Überraschend problemlos ließ sich Hatred in Deutschland ganz normal zensiert aktivieren und spielen – trotz der umstrittenen Inhalte. Wer über die provokante Fassade hinwegsehen kann, bekommt ein technisch funktionales, aber inhaltlich einseitiges Spiel. Nur für hartgesottene Genre-Fans und keinesfalls für jedermann geeignet.

Das Spiel hat einen so enormen Suchtfaktor. Wer die Zoo Tycoon Reihe kennt und die freie Bauweise von Gehegen geliebt hat, wird dem Spiel förmlich verfallen. Die Animationen der Tiere sind so gut gemacht und das Verhalten von Besuchern und Tieren auf Wettereffekte ist unglaublich gut gemacht.

Ich kann das nur empfehlen, auch wenn es derzeit noch kleinere Bugs gibt.

Aber vorsicht! Zeitfresser und, wie bereits zu Anfang gesagt, Suchtgefahr.
