Alan Wake American Nightmare é um jogo que nos primeiros momentos divertem e até instigam o jogador sobre os seus acontecimentos e o suposto vilão doppelgänger de Alan, Mr. Scratch, porém logo percebemos o afastamente que este 'spin off' possui de seu jogo 'pai'.
American Nightmare carece de um enredo interessante e opta por soluções clichés e com um final esperado; praticamente ao jogar 1/3 do jogo já temos uma clara noção de como este episódio terminará e o pior é que de fato termina como esperamos, sem nenhum plot twist para nos envolver e nem ao menos um cliffhanger interessante para nos manter ansiosos por um novo episódio da franquia. Porém, mesmo com esses problemas, não tiro o mérito da Remedy em arriscar uma história diferente com o escritor, apostando mais na ação e segurança ao enfrentar os perigos das fases (que são facilmente superados), elementos que juntos não conseguem manter o clima de suspense que é esperado neste jogo.
Infelizmente, frente à força quando comparado com o título principal, este novo episódio de Alan Wake decepciona, mas nem por isso é um péssimo jogo, foi divertido (e até muito rápido) de se jogar, e quem não gosta de sair atirando nos inimigos com metralhadoras e shotguns? Porém este não é o espírito que se espera ao jogar esta franquia, o survival deu lugar ao slasher praticamente, e Alan aparentemente escreveu sua pior história... Força Remedy, nós fãs continuamos fortes à espera de Alan Wake 2!
