Nach einem tragischen Vorfall laufen die Brüder Sean und Daniel Diaz von zu Hause weg. Die Jungs flüchten aus Angst vor der Polizei, während sie sich mit Daniels neu manifestierter, telekinetischer Kraft – der Kraft, Dinge mit seinen Gedanken zu bewegen – befassen, in die Richtung der Heimatstadt ihres Vaters, Puerto Lobos in Mexiko.

Plötzlich ist der sechszehnjährige Sean für Daniels Sicherheit, Unterkunft und Verständnis von Richtig und Falsch verantwortlich. Während Daniels Kraft wächst, liegt es bei Sean, die Regeln festzulegen, nach denen sie leben. Halten sie die Kraft geheim oder nutzen sie diese, um ihnen auf der Reise zu helfen? Betteln, ausleihen oder stehlen? Sich an Familie wenden oder sich verstecken?
