I feel like among this reboot of the big tree, this game was kind off left forgotten and underrated. I wouldn't say it's miles off of the other two, but it is noticeably better. Like the rest of the franchise, the game's scenery is no short of breathtaking. It's incredibly detailed, with a ton of challenges and side missions available. It also probably has the best and the biggest tomb and crypt exploration levels this franchise has to offer with all of them having unique puzzles, which I found not too hard but they definitely got me thinking and they were really immersive too, challenging not just your thinking but knowledge of mechanics too.

The thing that sets this game apart much more is the story. The story and the narrative is much more interesting, captivating and intriguing. Lara's motives are coming from a "feeling" that she is obliged to continue her father's discovery that got him killed due to the humiliation and mockery her father received as an archaeologist, but her ultimately realizing that this is her own path and decides to shift her cause to help the natives and others she met along the way. This makes her quite a complex character and she's much more emotionally driven, but it's also more resonating for the player. And this great character building doesn't just stick with her, Jacob is a really good character as well, with other characters such as Jonah, Ana and Konstantin being decent as well, but still considerably better than those in Tomb Raider 2013.

The mechanics are about what you would expect from this franchise, but it ends up being quite harder compared to other games adding a couple of new pieces of equipment. It really tests out your reflexes, and patience sometimes. Patience because at moments it feels so unresponsive. I've missed out on a simple jump tons of times just because I didn't feel like Lara completing the animation thinking it would be OK, and ending up dead.

The combat is also a lot better. If you get into an open fire, you're gonna go down in only a couple of shots, so going stealthy is pretty much the way for the most part. Beacuse of this, the game introduces a couple of baits and craftable weapons like molotovs or grenades. The weapons are also pretty good. You've got a decent assortment of weapons to choose from, and they each have enough upgrades to make a difference in what you choose. Same goes for equipment and outfits which also have perks of their own. This way exploring by yourself outside of the main story line and finding weapons parts / outfits makes a difference further in your playthrough.

One thing I find weird is examining the relics, most of the time you're looking straight at the clue but you just have to rotate it around until the game figures it out.

Also, the DLCs are great. Both the Baba Yaga and the Craft Manor one. I actually believe that if Craft Manor had more content it would've been an easy 4/5. It's not that hard but doing some detective work is really fun in this one.

So yeah, I definitely recommend this one. It's an exciting and engaging game with beautiful landscapes, ancient ruins, challenging puzzles and quite intense combat.

I finished the first Tomb Raider (2013), and when I discovered that this one is on sale, I instantly bought it.

Rise of The Tomb Raider, a sequel to the 2013 game, A very favorite and fun gameplay experience. If you like Lara Croft, which in case "WHO DOESNT" then you should find yourself very pleased with this game. Just like the 2013 one, all collectibles are obtainable even after game completion.

Nice game, the only problem is that some small graphical settings have big influence on performance. The story is not super fantastic but it is normal for Tomb Raider games and the main thing about them is climbing and exploration.

Amazing sequal to the reinvention of tomb raider, this game is a must have.

Good story, with play your way 3rd person gameplay.

The action sequences and running events are so adrenaline pumping, the combat is basic but still pretty fun in engaging.

Lara Croft is hot

If you've not yet played Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider, do yourself a favor and play those first. They're excellent games, and this one ties in heavily with the story from the last game.

It's better than the 2013 Tomb Raider, offering more challenge and more exploration, it has stuck mostly to the same gameplay, only leaving quick time events behind. Would definitely recommend, a great buy for the fast of the last game.

more of a personal preference, don't pay the game on your first playthrough with the dlc weapons activated, it made it too easy (as soon as you find all the parts for a gun and unlock it you have basically, an arsenal of choices -mostly better- awaiting for you at your camp)

Its a pretty good sequel of the first one.Fun to play,improved graphics,physics and mechanisms.
If the first tomb raider was good for you, then buy the rise of tomb raider withoun thinking it.You will love this one.

Great game overall, The only drawback being that the map is hard to understand, Or doesn't show the altitude of objects, Such as being in a cave. I had a blast with this game, I had never played any of them before, And this one hooked me within the first thirty seconds. Eighty hours later, I had finished every quest, and found every object. I didn't realize that the game is designed in a way that forces you to go back to previous areas, And open things that you couldn't open before. So i thought i was doing it wrong at first. The graphics are outstanding, Smooth, And the combat looks great. I won't compliment the bear in the first cave because he made me mad. If your the kind of person that loves a mystery, And a lot of treasure hunting, Then you will love this game. The combat is only the first part of an area, Once it's cleared, Then the real work begins.

A great game, a huge improvement from tomb raider 2013, I did enjoy that game a lot too tho. The graphics are great but the game doesn't run that well for me. The story is pretty good and there's some side quests and challenges you can do, there's a couple of gamemodes you can play after you've finished the game, there's a co-op gamemode too if you're in to that!

I've got the Tomb Raider fever and I'm stoked for the third installment, so much that i had to buy this game again (had it for 360). Graphics, action - all satisfying! Add to your collection! You'll be glad!

I played the previous installation, so I'm sure ill love the sequel, also the game itself keep you entertained for many hours. if you like tomb raider games theres no reason not to pass this one up. its amazing

I really enjoyed this game. Great technical realization, quite solid story. I think this is solid reboot of TR series.I enjoyed seeing young and naive Lara.I would give 100% if there were more challenging puzzles to solve.

masterpiece. even better than the last part and that one was really great. myabe a game of the year for me. cinematic moments, bloody action and great story. lara is older and more experienced and everything works well.

Very nice game...the beauty of the landscapes and the narration are pinpoint. Plus you get to explore another story and mode at the end of it. a really great sequel to the first even if the mecanisme are the same

If you played the first game in the new series you most likely loved it as much as I did. The past game had little to improve upon but somehow the developers managed to outshine themselves once again. It's cold, it's dangerous, it's hopeless - but it's also filled with secrets and collectibles plus a splendid narrative and gorgeous graphics. The difficulty level of the puzzles is on a good difficulty level but the rest of the game can be unforgiving at times which is positive. Rise and raid!

This is what gaming's about for me - excellent game. Great story, wonderful visuals, gameplay is awesome. If you liked the reboot, this one is even better. I can't wait for the next instalment in the rebooted series.
