Description

The Sims 4 High School Years Expansion Pack for PC is the 12th expansion pack for the Sims 4 game, and something of a surprise given that Sims 5 is well under way to release. However, the developers have given fans what might be a last blast for the Sims 4 game, in this high school expansion pack.

About the Game

As well as allowing access to high school where you can get to grips with your inner teen and experience your school days once more, albeit in the personas of your sims, this expansion pack introduces a new area, called Copperdale. You will attend classes in person, get to know your teachers, hang out in the cafeteria and even decorate your locker. Your most treasured moments might happen while loitering around with your friends after school.

As well as this, you can dance the night away at prom and celebrate your graduation ceremony (as long as you keep up with your schoolwork that is!) But high school is a time of self-discovery as well as one of study: dig deep to find the confidence to ask out your crush or dare to skip class just don’t let the principal catch you!

Teen Sims, like their real life counterparts, will explore their own likes and dislikes and have new opportunities to cause mischief. Pranks and sneaking out after dark can have consequences as well as giving you teen cred and extra coolness, so be careful you don’t get caught.

The clothing ranges and interactions and other items are brilliantly nostalgic and clever. Just as with a real high school student, you can choose fashions ranging from kawaii to cottage core to preppy to vaporwave to craft your teens exactly the way you want them. Teen Sims can gain a social media following and become a ‘Simfluencer’ earning money by selling outfits and designs that they come up with in their bedrooms.
As in real life, Sim teens spend a lot of time in their bedrooms which are fully customisable and more interactive than ever before. Your Sim teen can use a laptop, read a book in bed or even have a pillow fight with a friend or sibling!

The town of Copperdale features eleven new lots, including starter homes, the principal’s house and others, as well as a park, library, the high school, of course, complete with auditorium, and a lakeside rental place for those luscious teen summer weekends. There is also a combination boba tea shop and thrift shop, called ThrifTea. By the lake is Plumbsite Pier – a sort of promenade with ice cream vendors and water attractions.

As with other areas in Sims 4, there is a lot that cannot be accessed by the Sims, seemingly just there for show, but there is so much to see and do that you aren’t really going to miss accessing the whole football stadium, for example. At school, you can decorate your locker to suit your taste, gossip in the school cafeteria and get into trouble by playing pranks.

Prom is – as ever – a big deal when you’re in high school, and promposal options make the experience a fun and immersive one, as well as making signs for the event and voting for Prom King and Queen.

The Nitty Gritty

Classes are largely rote, with no real way to bunk out of class – but this isn’t a problem as your Sims gain skills simply by sitting in class so it is no hardship. After lessons, you head off to the things that make school fun: clubs and sports, with plenty on offer, ranging from chess or computer club to cheerleading and football, with much more.

The kids have an app that they prefer – much like Snapchat, TikTok, Kik and the like – and your Social Bunny app allows your Sims to pretty much do what you do on social media: like friends’ posts, post quirky anecdotes and send DMs for both friendship and romance.

Traits, as with all Sims games, are essential, and teens can be one of three new elements: Overachiever, Socially Awkward or a Party Animal all of which can help your Sim teen to find their path through high school

What Cool Things Can My Teen Sim Have?
