Single-Player Campaign
Winter Assault offers two choices: the Order Campaign and the Disorder Campaign. In the Disorder Campaign, play as the Orks and Chaos Space Marines in their efforts to crush any resistance to their chaotic way.

Deep under the central desert of Kronus, a vast honeycomb of skull-lined tunnels and funeral chambers house the awakening Necron menace. Eons ago, these were the boulevards and squares of a great necropolis built to house the bones of the races who had fallen to the Necrons, and ultimately were where the Necrons themselves retire to spend eternity. Over millions of years, sand and rock had covered it all until ill-fated excavations awoke the deathless.

The third and final expansion to the genre-defining and critically-acclaimed RTS, Dawn of War. In Soulstorm, two new armies are introduced – Sisters of Battle and Dark Eldar - raising the total number of playable armies to nine. The revolutionary meta-game that was first introduced in Dark Crusade is further expanded to an interplanetary scale, allowing players to battle across the star system.

God this game brings back so many memories,
one of the first games i ever played on pc actually.
Play this game if you like war games where you try to control the chaos of massive battles by using multiple units, factions and strategies.
10/10 would waste my time again on this game.

I am only giving 80 because of graphics of modern games are so high it may disappoint younger generation of players who are familiar with crisp graphics. This has its own charm but expect some crude graphics.

Once that expectation is set, you are in for a fun. I really liked the Chaos marines when they come into play, as they are just plain wicked and absolutely wretched to the core in their mindset and beliefs. Even their units look painful to watch.

Storyline is suprisingly good, unexpected twists at every chapter, almost like reading a Warhammer 40k book. No telling how the story will go.

The avatar units or the big units in war makes this game a charm. One unit changes dynamics of the battle and this is probably not the pioneer of such an idea, but in terms of execution most memorable. Especially when units get stuck on the huge blade and your giant units try to get rid of the corpse by shaking their weapon. Just epic.

Overall it is like a visual graphic novel. I wish I could say the same for DoW III but I haven't played it cos all my friends say it is disappointing. So if you liked DoW III, or DoW II (very well made too!), you will love this historical starter pack that began the series.

DoW master collection used to sell for nearly $90 when it first came out. Many games out there for similar price just plain waste of time more than the money.

Value your time, play the best.

  • May be too much gore, gothic and self-mutilation for kids to handle
