Description

Set 15 years before A Plague Tale: Requiem, play as Sophia, a fierce young plunderer, on the run but determined to uncover the secrets of her past. Dive into an original story blending combat, myth and fate with a brand new take in the universe of A Plague Tale.

Sophia’s journey leads to the Minotaur' Island, where she faces deadly trials, navigates treacherous trails, solves puzzles, all while fighting and staying one step ahead of the army chasing her. But the true challenge awaits, as the terrifying creature hidden behind the myth will soon resonate with her…

Sophia is a skilled, agile, and strong-willed fighter who engages in dynamic and violent melee combat. Followed by many enemies, each drawn to the Island to reclaim a mysterious treasure, you must navigate a treacherous maze. Rely on your agility, tricks and sharp reflexes to outsmart enemies, perfect your parries, and unleash powerful strikes to survive deadly encounters.

Shift between the Middle Age of Sophia and ancient Minoan times, where echoes of the past shape the battles of the present. Unfold a new story in the universe of A Plague Tale, through the entwined destinies of two heroes linked by fate and the Macula’s mysterious legacy.

Guided by the knowledge safeguarded in your notebook, follow in your crew’s footsteps to explore a richly detailed world, unravel its secrets, and face deadly trials. Use a stolen Minoan sphere to solve ingenious puzzles by manipulating light - a force woven by Daedalus into the island’s very heart.

It is said that only a few came back from the island. Lurking in the shadows lives a restless presence. It follows you around, seemingly knowing your every move, as it hunts through the island’s depths.

Every step is a risk. Every pause, a potential end. You can’t stop, only hide, outsmart, and push forward. Can you survive each trial and every step or will you join those who never came back?

Verdict and Style: The game earns an 8/10 rating and is highly recommended for fans of adventure franchises like Tomb Raider and Uncharted.

Shift in Focus: This third title in the series moves away from its survival-horror and stealth roots. Instead, it transitions into an adventure game with a strong emphasis on puzzles and a hybrid combat system that blends hack-and-slash with "Souls-like" mechanics.

Narrative and Setting: The story begins in 1334 Venice (15 years before A Plague Tale: Innocence) before moving to a Greek island. The narrative is split into two perspectives: the present featuring Sophia (exploring her childhood, supernatural connections, and the trauma of losing her father) and the past featuring "Theseus," the legendary Greek hero. It uniquely blends distinct historical elements with a fresh take on Greek mythology.

Exploration: While the environments are somewhat small, linear, and lack alternative routes, the game compensates with excellent graphics and meticulous historical research in its art direction. A major new feature is the grappling hook, used for both environmental traversal and pulling enemies during combat.

Puzzles: Puzzles are a major standout, featuring a wide variety of mechanics—from classic traps to a device that manipulates sunlight (which can also be used in combat). The seamless transition between puzzle-solving and combat keeps the pacing engaging and prevents monotony.

Collectibles and Customization: The game offers a rich array of collectibles, including charms that enhance combat abilities and aesthetic customizations for Sophia (like beads and bracelets). There are also 10 weapons to collect; in a nod to classic Tomb Raider, if you miss one during exploration, it is gone for good.

Combat System: The combat is challenging and rewards sharp reflexes and aggression. Sophia has only three health segments (one hit depletes a full segment on Normal difficulty), forcing players to carefully read the battlefield. Her moveset is highly varied, including parries, dodges, focus attacks, kicks, and grappling hook maneuvers.

Drawbacks: The game is not recommended for players seeking a massive open-world experience or purely frenetic action. Narratively, it suffers from some weak or lazy character motivations, and certain secondary characters lack the screen time needed for players to build a genuine connection with them.
  • Graphics, setting, and exploration.
  • Collectibles and puzzles.
  • Soundtrack and atmosphere.
  • It has nothing to do with the other games in the series.
  • Apresenta alguns problemas narrativos e de desenvolvimento de personagens.
  • Unfortunately, the game is short, with a campaign lasting 12 to 15 hours.

Good graphics, if you like games where you need to use logical ways to get further into the game this is the game for you, I thought it was gonna be more fighting, but I was wrong.

This game was absolutely fantastic.

The combat system was really good while still being simple and easy to understand. The story was insanely good, the textures were beautifully detailed, and the action never lets you wait too long. The puzzles were great, and the music was honestly incredible — you can even see in the credits that more than 50 people worked on the sound alone, which is impressive for such a small game.

The main character never got boring. She felt authentic and well-written, and I genuinely cared about what was happening.

Overall, I would give this game a solid 10/10. It’s been a long time since I played something that made me genuinely want to keep going just to find out what’s behind the next door.

Highly recommended! :)
