A great collection of two classic suspense building horror games, the Amnesia series is a great choice for anyone looking to experience not just jump scares but the feeling of helplessness and constant on edge suspense associated with facing a daunting challenge in unfamiliar territory.
The story unfolds through various entries and notes discovered, allowing bits to be pieced together by the player if they wish to read and immerse themselves within the games lore. It also features various puzzles which require out the box thinking at times, using the types of locations you have access to to prompt a solution. This can however leave you stuck without guidance at times, slowing down progress.
The insanity system of slowly experiencing auditory and visual hallucinations is cleverly done, further imposing a feeling of not being in control of the situation. This is especially experienced if you ever get spotted by an entity. Luckily you can manipulate the environment to help hinder their pursuit, such as blocking a door or hiding in a closet, but without the ability to fight back, you can only hope you are not seen in the first place.
