FIFA 15 is pretty much what you could expect: a solid simulator crammed with game modes, updated with the latest teams, but also suffers from a bit of controversy. Nothing new under the sun for EA Sports Canada, in other words, they have once again managed to interpret this noble ball games in an impressive way.
In essence, I’m are happy with what I’ve got. As a soccer simulator is verging on unsurpassed (although I’ve have particularly high hopes for Pro Evolution Soccer 15 this year), and detail the work that has been done directly amazing in everything from the ball’s realistic bounces to the big screams among the crowd during matches, not to mention all the detailed arenas. The presentation is simply impeccable.
The detail is astounding really, and every single arena seems to be almost perfect depicted.
So is it better than FIFA 14?
The answer is less obvious, and I can at least conclude that, yes, it’s different. Nothing drastic, of course, but still enough for experienced players to notice the new artificial intelligence of the goalkeepers, the improved defense game and they extended dribble finesses. The biggest difference is of course for those who also took the opportunity to upgrade to the new generation hardware. The expanded digital horsepower gives better graphics, more detailed audience, an artificial intelligence used by more players simultaneously as well as more realistic textures. It is easy to see and feel the difference. Even the commentators are better (although I nevertheless turned them off after a couple of matches).
More interesting is of course how the games are played, and as expected, this is also stable simulated. That game was balanced has led to the forwards have become more dangerus and it is easier to dribble, spin around and cross-reverse and the defenders become more difficult to handle and forward pressure is reduced.
It has simply become more goals during the matches I’ve played, which is something positive. What I think is a free-kick has been shown to differ diametrically from what the developers are doing and too often late slide-tackles for instance get away, which in a way reminiscent of the frustration of all miscarriages of justice in real matches give. Is it intentionally, I am impressed, but I do doubt it.
As I wrote above, the artificial intelligence expanded and it shows in how the team is acting as a whole and how much more credible players behave. After a tough tackle, a hot-headed dude storming up the culprit, mad as a hornet. And if a line is defended park to the bus in a nice way, while everyone to invest more aggressively if required goal in the last minute of important matches.
There are no huge differences but the improvements are there and make a big difference.
However, there are unfortunately occasions when computer-controlled managers not quite keep up. The protagonists understand, for example, does not always how I put up the ball, clearance gap will suffer, and sometimes marked my team members so hard by the second computer controlled opponents that they become completely unusable. Nor is the centers keeping up and fill up the back line where it is needed, making it unnecessarily weak in between.
When it works, it is a true pleasure to play FIFA 15, but when it does not match the massive frustration a fact. Not unlike that which Supporter check real matches. It has been steam occasions when I promised myself I would never play again, just to hours after picking up the handset on the way to new feats.
There is a substantial selection of game modes to keep people busy, but I've spent the most time with career mode.I’m still not completely impressed on the new scouting system for transfers (the old method of scanning the database was better), but it is also the only real shortcoming.
Otherwise FIFA 15 very deep game with plenty of choices for players to shape their own gaming experience with. Those who just want to have started a quick match, fomr exaple, by playing a tournament and Skill games is happily back again. Choosing what you want is more agreeable in the year thanks to improved menus.
Ultimate Team is also included on the new, which is a game mode I is not utilized like that very much before FIFA 15, but this year I went to grips with it to find out why it is so popular with the game's great community.
If you're unfamiliar with it, be aware that it resembles a mixture of those which collects albums with stickers and 'fantasy football' complete with mini and micro transactions.
If you play Xbox One version, you can also look forward to using the classic football legends, which is a nice feature exclusive to Microsoft's formats.
If you go online there is still more to discover, here you can play against several opponents during an entire season, wallop your friends in a mini league and a combination of them called Co-op Season which states joined forces with someone else to together take on the world. Then there's of course the FUT and the ability to play 11 against 11, the latter, however, is not for me.
My online gaming experiences have been mixed. Many stand if it is below and it is not surprising because it's not fun to be too humiliated myself during the long matches. It's against friends online it really shines. I’ve had some lag, which could possibly be because they I met probably lived in the US since the game was not out in Europe when I played.
A few small shortcomings I stumbled across was the famous problem to the PC where all players are rushing towards the center circle. Anohter bug is the connectivity troubles for the PlayStation 4. I've mostly been playing Xbox One version that had the least problems, but even in that I suffered to be logged out in the middle of a match for no reason .
FIFA 15 is not quite the revolution I’ve had hoped for, but more naturally and gently step forward where the game is held back by many of the deficiencies found in its predecessor. It's is ultimately a very good game, if not masterful, but while waiting for FIFA 16 that will hopefully deliver what I hope meets my expectations, this will be more than good enough.
