Description

Your team of prisoners is dropped into the Rundown when a new Work Order is issued by The Warden, the mysterious entity holding you captive. The Rundown is a series of expeditions, each one taking you deeper into a decayed research facility called The Complex. You descend level by level, scavenging tools and resources that help you survive in a perilous network of tunnels where gruesome creatures lurk in every shadow. Complete all the expeditions to fulfill the Work Order and clear the Rundown.

GTFO is designed for prisoner teams of four, putting cooperation at the core of the experience. Bots can fill your lineup if you’re short one or two players. They’ll follow you through expeditions, sneak when you sneak, collect resources, and fight alongside you. They’re a good fallback, but the level of communication and tactical combat in GTFO means it’s best to play with people.

A strategy is necessary to clear the Rundown. Before you drop into The Complex, your team needs to decide what gear, boosters, and weapons to bring. You must also balance the team, identifying the function of each prisoner so that you know what to do when things go wrong. And they will. They always do.

Stealth and coordination are necessary to survive as you maneuver through The Complex. Many of the creatures of GTFO are suspended in a state of hibernation, so light, noise, and vibrations can easily wake up these Sleepers. And if one of them knows you’re there, they all know. That’s when things get messy.

You’ll need heavy weaponry and a clear mind when the shit hits the fan. Check your line of fire, force them through bottlenecks, set up your kill zones and reload every chance you get. These creatures stop at nothing, and neither should you. Once the mayhem starts, you have no choice but to put every last one of them down.

Clearing expeditions and Rundowns will reward you with new cosmetic gear. Wear it with pride, as it proves to your peers you’ve been to hell and back. The Sleepers, on the other hand, will not care for a second.

Good Game if you play with friends or other people (if you speak english).

You can play alone too, it's really difficult but not impossible. But you'll be stuck in some missions that require you to do two things at once, which is a shame.
  • Great Atmosphere
  • Fun with friend
  • Solo play possible (but really hard)
  • Not Solo Friendly for some missions
  • Request to play with others
  • Very greedy configuration

While the game regarding gameplay and performance is all well and good, the problem is the matchmaking that lacks nay players for a full team. GTFO insists you use their Discord server to find the team. The issue is, that the server is full of diehards and sweaty gamers that despise newcomers. No way to learn the game, especially due to the fact that the tutorial is impossible to complete solo.

Looked like I would have a blast with the game, but the community soured me to it completely.
  • Good visuals
  • Optimized
  • Good sound design
  • Broken matchmaking
  • bad community
  • no onboarding for new players

Hardcore survival, how i know it? I never died on a tutorial before this :'D.

The game is really challenging and fun, we actually bought it because of a bet and now we cannot stop playing with it!

It is way better in a team of friends, but i can see why some people love it with randoms/bots too.

Really good game for the price!

The game is unique, always fun to play with friends in multiplayer. Also cool if you want to challenge yourself in solo run. And for small content creators this game is way to go if you can make it entertaining with your friends.

This game is a little bit like if Dead Space, Alien Isolation and Deep Rock Galactic had a baby. It is challenging, slow paced and dripping with atmosphere. Verbal communication is a must, ordinarily via Discord. If you don't want to talk or play with others you should probably look elsewhere. Never had a problem getting a game if you go via the Discord server, the in game match maker is a bit hit and miss. Netcode is good, I've played with people in Europe and North America multiple times with no issues (I'm in Australia). Games take a good long while so if you're time poor, this game is probably not for you.
  • Challenging in a good way
  • Heaps of atmosphere
  • Heavily co-op orientated
  • In-game match making is pretty useless (use the Discord))

difficult game, but that is the selling point and I find it intriguing. Key worked without any issues, except for me being a first time buyer I had to upload public id documents which was a hassle but it's over with so I'm okay

Ok it's not the game itself , but just that i cannot join ANY kind of play , because you have to connect to discord and you HAVE to TALK during game. If you don't, you wont get any invitation , so there is no matchmaking build in the game .

very annoying at least to me. cause i cannot play
  • you cannot play if you do not go on discord , and talk

Fun Game if u have atleast 2 friends to play with :D
After 50 hours of gameplay its still fun to play this game with my friends. Just trying to be lucky enough to get through the rundowns alive.
I wish there would be some other kinds of rundowns where u won't need to sneak arround all the time :D
  • -atmosphere, very immersive
  • -leveldesign
  • -random generated loot & enemies
  • -graphics
  • -pretty challenging
  • -needs atleast 3 players to succeed (my opinion)
  • -to much sneaking

For an early access it's pretty good, still needs a lot of work and improvements, but the active updates from the developer are a costant reassurance.

Play it with friends and u'll experience the best gameplay the game can offer u.
  • Excellent atmosphere
  • Team play like no other game
  • Constant development
  • Many features are missing at the moment but should be implemented in future updates

Introduction of PvE (Player versus Environment)

The game comes with PvE mode, pitting you against the environment full of terrifying monsters await you. The ultimate objective is to ensure your victory while playing the vicious beasts along with your buddies. Survival requires the completion of specific goals, the defeat of enemies, and specific points you earn after killing targets. To let you experience the detailed gameplay, the game introduces the first-person perspective, which means you can only see the character’s hands loaded with weapons. Explore the massive underground complex to encounter creatures and shoot them down to win rewards and other legendary weapons to become the master.

During the gameplay, every action and detail will count if you are on the way to survive the nightmare. To make sure the survival of your team, you have to reveal every information and resource to help you and the team to solve objectives and come back home.

Verdict
Playing First-person Shooting game is too much fun and you may know that hardcore games sometimes become a headache for average players, but how beautifully the developer did their job to provide fantastic gameplay for all types of players. Although there’s no Single-player campaign, playing the game with friends will let you fully engage yourself in the detailed team-based gameplay experience. Communication with friends is an outstanding feature, taking your gaming experience to the next level, and GTFO comes with a fantastic communication system. The game deserves 10 out of 10, but we would love to give it 9 out of 10, because of not introducing a single-player campaign.
