By far the worst soulslike I've ever played. A disgrace to all soulsborne and soulslike games.
  • Graphics
  • Invisible map boundings, GPU heavy, takes ages to cache and still lags even with good GPUs
  • Incomparably brutal boss attack patterns (vs. Soulsborne Games), very bad camera movement
  • Incredibly pointless arena boundings (bosses can still jump out of them and attack you)

If you like Souls games or God Of War, you will probably going to like this.
8/10 by me.
  • Really good boss fights.
  • Good story telling.
  • Ironically, a lot of boss fight.
  • Demands strong GPU

Think God of War, but set in ancient Chinese mythology - and you're halfway there. Black Myth: Wukong is a cinematic action RPG that combines fluid, demanding combat with one of the most visually stunning worlds ever put in a video game. Every boss fight is an event. Every environment is a painting.

The Skill Tree is not decoration - it is strategy. Certain bosses will punish the wrong build and reward the right one, making every investment feel meaningful. The same goes for gear; armor and equipment choices genuinely shift the outcome of difficult encounters.

The story, rooted in the legendary Journey to the West, is adventurous and inspiring without ever being heavy-handed. The soundtrack - blending traditional Chinese instruments with full orchestration - is simply extraordinary. And the atmosphere? It pulls you in from the first frame and never lets go.

Black Myth: Wukong is a statement game. One of the finest of its generation.

____ A Word of Advice ____

Black Myth: Wukong is not a game to rush. It rewards patience, curiosity, and a willingness to adapt. Players approaching it as a pure Souls-like may initially feel disoriented — there are no traditional quests, no companions, no sprawling open world in the Elden Ring sense. But those who release those expectations will discover something arguably more focused and more memorable: a handcrafted journey through one of the world's greatest mythologies, told through some of the finest gameplay mechanics of the generation.

And I'll add this as well:

From the very first moment you step into Black Myth: Wukong's world, the atmosphere pulls you in and refuses to let go. Each chapter feels like a distinct, living environment - dense forests, crumbling temples, celestial palaces - all rendered with jaw-dropping fidelity through Unreal Engine 5. The visual effects alone are among the most stunning ever committed to a video game. Light filters through ancient canopies, cloth flows in the wind, and every boss entrance is a cinematic event worthy of a feature film.
  • Arguably the best designed in any non-FromSoftware action game. Each one is a cinematic.
  • Combat system - fluid, responsive, and deep enough to stay interesting throughout the entire game
  • Skill Tree with real weight — as you pointed out, it directly influences boss outcomes, which is rare and meaningful
  • Difficulty curve - later chapters spike significantly, and some bosses feel disproportionately harder than what came bef
  • Limited build variety early on - the Skill Tree takes time to open up, so early hours can feel restrictive
  • Story accessibility - if you're not familiar with Journey to the West lore, some narrative context gets lost

Solid game!
It’s definitely a bit of a different take on the Souls-like genre. Overall, it’s fun to play, but it does have a few minor shortcomings. The graphics and performance can be a bit lacking at times. The gameplay also felt a bit repetitive in my opinion — there wasn’t enough variety. On the other hand, the cutscenes and story were really cool, exciting, and well-crafted.

Long story short

Its giga ass
  • The graphics are very good
  • The combat system is insanely ass
  • If you buy pots and stuff, and dies to a boss, money and stuff is gone ( when you respawn)
  • I wasted 45€ on that garbage

Game does not install, and when it does, it gets stuck on shaders compilation. If you bypass the compilation, it will crash.

I'm not quite finished playing through the game, great graphics and game mechanics, story line could have better better, it really needs a better map and pointer system so you really know where in the game to go without missing missing many game bosses & treasures while playing through to your end game.

All AAA games now are requiring medium to high gaming hardware and its getting really out of hand.. game coders should really polish and tweak their gaming engines! It shouldn't take an RTX5080/AMD9900X to play games on their very highest settings!!

Best fight game I ever played. Awesome gameplay, graphics and music. Difficulty level really well adjusted. Full of great secrets to discover and enjoy. Really good progression system and skills tree. Exploring has also a good prize... Only thing weird is story, but it's eclipsed by everything else. I don't get it why it wasn't the GOTY 2024.
  • Fight mechanics, exploring, graphics, music
  • Story
