Why is the game price elevated from the original making the discount less effective than stated? The Deluxe version is $99 not the stated $117. The discount of 30% off the actual price should bring the total to $70. The Super Deluxe is $129 not the stated $153 meaning the 31% discount should cost $90.
!! I put this review on steam and just incase i will add it here too !!
Stutterlands 4, same graphics as BL3 and triple the requirements
Gameplay-wise, game is equal or a somewhat improved form of BL3 combat which is good, fun and the skill trees are actually neat. Focus is on action skills now rather than legendary weapons defining a build and efficiency. I also really liked the music in combat and exploration. They also added a bunch of unnecessary collectibles, and farming legendary weapons feels like it takes a lot longer now, even with the “Moxxi’s Encore” boss respawn.
Story-wise, minor improvement over BL3 (still slop) but still an improvement. Characters are very forgettable and have linear personality. Rush, for example - the main joke is “protein bars” just cause he’s a buff dude, and he’s also written as “caring about everyone too much,” which is bland and doesn’t add anything to the character. Some missions even try to make him serious, which makes it awkward. Quests are mostly bland and characters are mostly annoying, though some I actually really started to like — personally I really liked the old guy from the “Hangover Helper” side quest because of his accent, his non-annoying way of talking, and the fact he doesn’t constantly yammer in your ear. If they had made all the characters that were meant to be jokes actually “serious and grounded,” like they claimed Borderlands 4 would be compared to the others, then yeah, it could have actually been nice.
Performance is absolutely horrific. Constant stuttering, low FPS, and crashes make it a headache to play, and they didn’t even bother optimizing a game that costs 70 bucks. Instead of fixing the issues, they blame Nvidia or AMD GPUs, send automated responses if you mention it, and even include this kind of bot message in update notes claiming to “improve stability” without actually fixing the game.
Instead of fixing the issues from BL3 they just made it worse by turning Borderlands into a shitty open world game rather than what it was originally. And on top of that, they added a healing mechanic because they couldn’t figure out how to balance the game, so they thought this would “fix” the issue of enemies being insanely strong with damage to the player.
I like the game, but this was my last chance for Borderlands to come back to former glory after BL3 and sadly it just wasn’t good enough. Replayability is alright, but it doesn’t fix the core issues. Good for people who enjoyed BL3, but not great for BL2 fans. I will try to continue to play the game for a while to see if they end up fixing it or if I end up liking it more.
Gameplay is better than BL3
Writing is a LITTLE better than BL3
You know publisher doesn't care about the player
Players blamed for issues, not the dev team
Horrible FPS, Stuttering and Ridiculous PC requirements
From what I've played thus far, the graphical art is smoother, writing is a lot better then what I experienced with Borderlands 3, and voice acting is a bit better. Graphical optimization is still a bit off with slow to smooth or render as things come and go off screen. The Vault hunters abilities are very interesting and can give a fair amount of build room giving you the ability to make a Tank or true DPS. Haven't messed around enough to see if there is a healer, but the healing is a bit better with a equip able item that has a cool down. Works like a shield too.
Borderlands 4 is a triumphant return to the series' chaotic roots, blending explosive action, sharp humor, and a stunning new world, Kairos. The expanded skill trees offer endless customization, while the refined narrative strikes a perfect balance between depth and fun. Side quests brim with the franchise's signature wit, and the open world is packed with secrets to uncover. Though some new mechanics feel underwhelming, the sheer joy of looting and shooting more than compensates. Whether you're a veteran Vault Hunter or a newcomer, Borderlands 4 is a must-play adventure that delivers in spades!
