Nioh 3 is the eagerly anticipated continuation of the dark samurai action RPG series Nioh. A deadly struggle unfolds amidst the devastation of an alternate Warring States period where bandits run rampant and yokai skulk about.

This game features an open field filled with the sense of tension characteristic of the "Nioh" series while also allowing you to explore to your heart's content. In this dark samurai world, you will encounter formidable yokai, explore menacing villages where darkness lurks, and struggle against the ominous presence of "the Crucible."

• Samurai and Ninja combat styles

You can enjoy an instantaneous and seamless switch between two combat styles during battle, facing your enemies head-on with Samurai Style and using quick movements and special techniques with Ninja Style.

Team Ninja returns with the sharpest entry yet in the Nioh series — blending its signature punishing, skill‑heavy combat with bigger, more open historical battlefields . Taking the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, you journey through war‑torn eras, hunting twisted yokai demons while learning to master two distinct fighting styles: methodical, heavy‑hitting Samurai Style, and fast, agile Ninja Style — swap between them mid‑fight to outmanoeuvre every foe.



The combat is the clear star here. Timed deflects, Ki Pulse management, and a huge range of weapons and build options make every battle feel tense and deeply satisfying — once you get the rhythm down, landing perfect combos against towering bosses is incredibly rewarding . The move toward large open zones gives more freedom than past games; you can tackle objectives in your own order, hunt optional yokai, or team up with friends in 3‑player co‑op when things get too tough . It’s also the most accessible Nioh yet — quality‑of‑life tweaks and clearer learning curves help new players find their footing, even if it never goes easy on you .



That said, it isn’t perfect. Some areas suffer from repeated enemy layouts, a few boss fights have brutal difficulty spikes, and frame‑rate stutters can pop up during busy battles . The story is serviceable but fairly straightforward — mostly a backdrop for the action rather than a deep narrative standout .



If you loved Nioh 1 & 2, this is an easy must‑buy — it builds on everything that made the series great while expanding its scope. For soulslike‑curious newcomers, it’s a solid place to start — just be ready to learn from every defeat.

I really like the game. It's fun and you feel powerful. I have done everything I can on the map, and got a little burnt out. But that's my own fault for being scared to face the boss and went and did everything else I could before. But I feel ready to take on the boss now. Just taking it a bit slower.

Phenomenal game with the best combat system I know. It's also much more accessible than Nioh and Nioh 2 (apart from the first 2 or 3 bosses but you can summon somebody for them).

Really enjoying it so far.
The combat feels fast and satisfying, with lots of room to experiment with different builds. The PC version runs well and looks great. If you like challenging action RPGs, this one is definitely worth it.
