Pillars of Eternity is a game for those looking for more than just action. Instead of fast-paced gameplay, we get a complex plot, challenging choices, and a world full of secrets. The story focuses on the theme of souls and their influence on people's lives, giving the game a more philosophical feel than typical fantasy.

The game's greatest strengths lie in the dialogue and the ability to make decisions that have a real impact on the world. Each conversation can change the course of events, and character development offers a great deal of freedom.

Combat is tactical and requires thought—this isn't a game where you win by clicking. Although, in the long run, it becomes quite repetitive. It can be challenging for new players, but it's very rewarding.

The downsides are the large amount of text and the slow pace. Those looking for fast-paced action may find it boring. However, for fans of classic RPGs, it's a huge plus. Therefore, the often-heard comparisons to Baldur's Gate are, in my opinion, completely pointless. This is the game Obsidian always wanted to create, and I give it my sincere applause and respect.

Summary: Pillars of Eternity is a great game for patient players who value atmosphere, story, and decisions, not just gameplay.

Loved it. Good start for Obsidian in the CRPG genre
  • Many classes
  • Replayablility
  • No multiclassing

Pillars of Eternity is a masterpiece of a role-playing game. The world-building is intricate and the characters are multi-dimensional. The story is thought-provoking and morally complex, challenging players to make tough decisions. The combat system is strategic and engaging. A must-play for any RPG fan.

The Game is Simply Awesome. I played with it approx 200 hours and I still love it. Now I restarted on Potd Trial of Iron, and it is extremely challenging to avoid death. The Story is very good, the world is perfect that they built up, if someone wants it he/she can go into details very much. I can just suggest to everyone who loved Baldurs gate and the similar games.
  • Various choices and quests
  • Extremely good very hard mode.
  • Long playing hours
  • fantastic Graphics
  • The bugs sometimes can be annoying until they are fixed

A game that brings older players back to their Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale roots in gameplay and yet it differs from them drastically when it comes to difficulty. It is not a game for those new to the genre and it can be quite punishing on higher difficulty levels.

Remember, the QuickSave button is your friend (F5)
  • Graphics are more than decent

If you like baldur's gate then this is a must buy period. The Graphics are nice and it has a very nice story line. So like i've said if you like baldur's gate you'll need to buy this. And i'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it.
  • Baldur's Gate

Awesome game ! Great story, good music and very nice graphics.
It reminded me of other great games in the genre such as: Baldur's Gate or Ice Wind Dale.
Definitely try it if you haven't already, you wont regret.
  • Great story !
  • No multiplayer :(

Incredible, it's like Baldurs Gate but more intensive!!
I saw the metacritic reviews and I try a "demo", after 2 hours of game I see the cdkey. Now here we are. Buy and PLAY. Nothing more to say. Give him a chance, you will never forgive it.
  • Good Graphic, Simple but not easy to play
  • Maybe a little bit old mechanics...

An utterly fantastic game. I was recommended to play it by a good friend and despite never playing a game of this genre before, I have been sucked in and have never looked back since.

Definitely try it if you haven't already.
  • Lore and story writing
  • True to the original IE games
0
Nostalgic to the max if your a fan of old isometric rpgs such as baldurs gate, icewind dale and planescape torment then this is for you. The combat system is quite tricky to start but you will easily get the hang of things.
  • Nostalgic Isometric RPG
  • Tricky combat system if your new to the genre

great game, proper Baldurs gate feel to it, though some bits early on are stupidly hard if you havent levelled up enough!
0
awesome! Pillars of Eternity features a party-based real-time-with-pause tactical gameplay, fixed isometric user interface for the game-world with two-dimensional pre-rendered backdrops,[1][7] in a similar vein as its spiritual ancestors Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale series and Planescape: Torment
