Every year, there are games that mark their era and an entire generation of gamers. Whether they're narrative, open-world, challenging, violent or emotionally powerful, these are titles one must play once.

So let's take a look at these 16 must-have games that you need to play at least once in your life. We've focused on relatively recent releases. The oldest title dates back to 2011 and the most recent to 2024.

It's often said that perfection doesn't exist, but some games come very close. In this respect, Rockstar Games is undoubtedly doing better than the rest, as the starry studio's titles have left their mark on entire generations. GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 (to name but two) are the best examples.

In a completely different way, FromSoftware also hits the mark with its famous Souls-like. Elden Ring has already earned a place in the gaming pantheon. There's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice too, which albeit not so talked about, it is far from lacking in quality, and has won several GOTY awards.
