Story

Three heroic explorers wander the post-apocalyptic desert on a mission to save their village from despair. Astalon: Tears Of The Earth is an action-platformer set in a dying world where life is cruel, but death can be a stepping stone to victory! Use the unique skills and weapons of Arias the fighter, Kyuli the rogue, and Algus the wizard, to surmount the mysterious tower and find the answers to their survival. Slay terrible monsters, discover powerful artifacts, and solve fiendish puzzles, reaching new heights in the tower with the aid of a Titan. Follow a story about friendship and sacrifice, building up the courage to take down giants to protect the weak and powerless. Strengthen your party and change their fate by embracing death. Discover the countless secrets of the Tower of Serpents!

Not a fan of the 8bit graphic nor of the music really annoying. Not a fan of the Epilepsy fest either: this is the first time a game cause me migraine for the overwhealming amount of flashing lights totally unnecessary! Speaking of not necessary thing the fact that everytime I die I have to climb again from the beginning of the tower (sure there are elevator but the first times is a huge time wasting), the fact that I have to reach a bonfire everytime I need to switch character and the fact that the game overwrite my save that I made just before a boss fight (guess they really wanted to waste my time by making me climb again).

But if you can go past this horrible design choice you'll find a fine Metroidvania, the plot was interesting and the character where well made. Don't know if I will reach the end, right now I HAD to stop playing because it really hurt the back of my eyes.

EDIT: for the love of Gura PLEASE before playing go to the option and set the flashing light to Moderate!!!

I loved the pixel art and the game play. Overall, a decent metroidvania, with my only criticisms being that the game could do a better job of clueing the player in to what needs to be found to overcome the roadblocks.
