Description

You are the Nomad — an elder vampire awakening from a century-long slumber, new to the modern nights. Trapped in your Blood is a stranger’s voice. This entity, a vampire detective known as Fabien, will be your guide to 21st-century Seattle. You will explore the city through his eyes as well as those of the Nomad, as you revisit a cold case from a hundred years ago that is threatening undead and mortal society alike.

Hunt your way through a modern-night Seattle on the brink of an open supernatural war in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, where visceral vampire action meets a neo-noir murder mystery. Navigate the vampire Court of Seattle and its dark underbelly in this action RPG, realized by the BAFTA award-winning studio The Chinese Room.

Blood sustains you and empowers your vampiric Disciplines. You’ll stalk and feed on the city’s population at night. Use your supernatural powers or raw persuasion on unsuspecting mortals to lure them into dark alleys and slake your Hunger. However, be cautious about breaking the Masquerade: revealing your true nature risks reprisals, starting with law enforcement and escalating from there. Remember, you are not the only creature that goes bump in the night.

Experience immersive, visceral combat that rewards various playstyles and approaches based on your choice of vampire clan. Will you engage in close combat with supernatural strength, attack from a distance with blood sorcery, or silently thin the herd like the apex predator you are? Your clan choice will support these playstyles and more.

Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society or rail against it. Experience Seattle - a city full of alluring, dangerous characters and factions, not to mention the mortals at stake in the clash of powers beyond their knowing. In this sequel to the cult classic, your choices, plots, and schemes will determine the balance of power and what becomes of the city and its people.

Game is a huge let down if you played the originals and pen and paper. The game loop is simple. Its just an action game kind of like dishonored. No true rpg content or detailed customization of your character. If your an action gamers and new to this franchise you may like it. If you love detailed RPGs this will be a bumer.
  • Good Graphics
  • Good Action First person fighter
  • Decent effects
  • Basic Story Arc, go here kill this or find that. City is bland, cars dont move.
  • Does not live up to original game
  • no inventory, stats, or detailed skill system

They cut out a lot of features just to finish this game. Great combat, Movement, Story
But the game is empty, lacks any RPG elements. No money, No equipment, no speech skill checks.
There's almost nothing to do in this world, and you only fight enemies from 2 factions the entire game.
I wish they cut out the walking from location to location during retrospections.
Despite these faults, I enjoyed playing it.

2 hours in, game is pretty decent, runs well in UE5, gameplay is pretty fun, graphics are decent considering graphics already peaked like what? 10 years ago? I mean its cheaper here, and you can always wait a bit longer ;)

What else can we gamers ask for?

It's a 7/10 and that's totally fine.
  • Its a fun game to play
  • wait for discount?

As someone who's been waiting 20y for a new VtM-game, I REALLY wanted to like this one. Despite having extremely low expectations, I honestly can't find a single redeeming quality when it comes to Bloodlines 2. Even if this was just some spin-off, set in the VtM universe, it is still feels soulless, clunky and robotic. The first Bloodlines had its well known share of flaws and bugs, but it was still charming and beloved by all, and I played it countless times. I don't think I can find the motivation to play this, whatever this is supposed to be, even if it was deeply discounted in the future. I don't often refund games, but this one I had no doubt about.

Alright, for those looking for a direct sequel to Bloodlines (the 2004 classic) and nothing else — just move along.
If you’re expecting a huge vampire RPG focused on deep choices and groundbreaking RPG mechanics — again, move along.

But for those who want a Vampire: The Masquerade game with gameplay closer to Dishonored — welcome aboard.

I played the original back in 2004 and really enjoyed it, even if it wasn’t perfect. I had high hopes for this one, and you know what? Even though it’s not a real sequel but more of a spin-off, I’m actually loving it!

Every character you meet is interesting, and the story keeps you hooked without holding your hand too much. It’s not very challenging when it comes to puzzles, but the combat is trickier than it looks — enemies attack in groups, don’t give you any downtime, and can really catch you off guard.

Honestly, I can only recommend it!
Minor downsides: no French translation and character faces aren’t super detailed — you can tell the budget wasn’t huge. But aside from that, it’s great stuff!
  • Good graphics
  • Nice combat systems
  • nice story
  • a bit drop when you go in or out a place somtimes
  • No other dub just english
  • not the bloodline 2 we wait (but good spin off)

Could we had a better Wampire The Masquerade : Bloodlines 2 ? YES, absolutly !
Is this a bad game ? NO !

Considering the hard developpement of this game it is almost a miracle to finally have it (like the first one, btw)

Let's begin.

Graphics :
Visually the game is pretty beautifull and have absolutly the vibe of Vampire the masquerade, the night streets of Seattle are gloomy the neon and other street lights give a bright red lights and give a real athmosphere to the game, the smoke, the snow and the vfx are really good, the designe of lot of characters are really good, i personnally regret that there's only 3 Nosferatu in the game, but their design is good.

Sound :
The game have a good sound design overall, the fights, weapons have good sounds too, the music are more subtle but still good.

Writting :
The game immerses you in a real maze of a mystery, you wake up after 100 years of sleep, with someone inside your head, a mysterious mark carved in your hand and a LOT of questions.
The game use the second character inside your head (Fabian, a detective) like Johnny Silverhand, a good way to justify to have frequent tips or reflexion of a character during an infiltration, or a case.
There's a lot of choices to make, and the story is rather well written, with lot of little consequences for what you decide to do.
i maybe regret that we do not have a decisive clue as player to understand who is the real threat until the revelation. (but maybe i just miss the clue).
Alas there's no writting on secondary quests... but i will get to that just after.
the characters are pretty coherent and understandable, there's not cliché and the game of power works well, just...the anarch are pretty...too good guys to be interesting i think.
The story is approximately 25h to finish straight.

Gameplay :
First BIG mistake for this game, no character's sheet, no perks or skills and no inventory, you just have your kindred power (those of your clan, AND the other...because you're ancient blablabla) the game only gives you 4 consumables like in Hogwarts legacy...nothing really interesting and of course this is NOT an RPG, or a kind of light RPG only in Dialogues.

The second BIG mistake, NO weapons, no guns, no grenades, in this game it's only fists and feet !
The fights aren't bad, but it seriously lacks something and GOD it's frustrating to be machine-gunned to death just because your character is too stupid for using a gun...
You have the possibility to use telekinesis for taking a grenades, a knife or a gun and use it before throwing it...but this is really poor.

And the FINAL BIG mistake, NO secondary quests, the story is good, but this is really what make a difference between a RPG, and a narrative game...
The game try to hide this mistake with some 4/5 repetitive objectives...but this is REALLY POOR written and executed.

Finally there's 6 clans playable : Ventrue, Lasombra, Toreadore, Tremere, Brujah and Banu Haqim.
i'm obviously disapointed that we can't play as Malkavian, even if they put Fabian (he is Malkavian) in our head to blur this.

I did not speak about bugs, because honnestly, i was lucky and just get a tiny bug close to the end, forcing me to reload, but overall i didn't have any, but this is to consider, because a LOT of people have a LOTS of bugs, the game seem unstable at the moment.

Conclusion :
For the end i must say...i pretty love this adventure and lot of characters and was REALLY happy to feel in the World of darkness again...But yeah, as expected this is not the real sequel we wanted, i really hope this is not an end for the incredible Vampire : The masquerade universe in video game, and really want a TRUE SEQUEL of the first Bloodlines, one day maybe.

Try this game if you feel like it, and, good night.
  • The Story, and the writting of characters.
  • The visual esthetic of the game is unique.
  • Some missions have a really good feeling.
  • Areas where you HAVE to fight for continue, can't choose to play stealth.
  • No RPG gameplay elements, character sheet, perks, skills, suff, weapons, side quests.
  • The farming of blood in the tiny open-world is boring.

Just an insult on the name Vampire the Masquerade and on the RPG genre.

Sequel, in name, of a cult game that even with all it's bug still remains in the hearts of gamers, this "game" does not have anything.... it has just a main story (not even that great) No side quest (because kill a random person, kill a ghoul and deliver a package and repeat ARE NOT side quests just fillers) no character progression (only in unlocking new outfits because 90% of skills are useless and farming is less fun than walking on nails bare footed) the combat is chaotic whitout a lock on target system and very repetitive and the IA of NPC and enemies is dumber than my watch.

A shame that this is the result after waiting 21 years for a sequel that in order to have had success should have just follwed the TTRPG rules of VTM 5 edtion

Bloodlines 2 is a great game, the world is immersive, it has good atmosphere, and for those who are fans of the theme, it’s excellent. But it’s not a Bloodlines. It could be Vampire The Masquerade anything else, except the sequel to Bloodlines. I think a big part of the negative reactions from people is exactly that — having the title “Bloodlines 2.”

Because of its troubled development and the change of developer, my expectations for the game, even though I was really looking forward to it, were zero. When I opened the game, I was already expecting nothing from it. Because of that, I can say: Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is a vampire game, the map has an acceptable size (an open world game with a huge map nowadays is something awful).

In short, if you like the theme, if you like the Vampire The Masquerade series, take this game not as a sequel and you’ll do fine with it.
  • Immersive
  • Good atmosphere
  • Good Graphics
  • It's not Bloodlines 2
