Japan, 1542, a country in turmoil. The last shogunate has collapsed, leaving a nation divided into numerous factions, each led by a daimyo, a feudal warlord.
Each daimyo is out to scheme, murder, and wage war to become supreme ruler. The emperor is powerless, a puppet of whichever faction controls Kyoto. Into this melting pot come the first European explorers; bringing guns, religion, and disease.

As either the invading Mongols or the ruling Hojo clan of Japan, it is up to you to take the islands for the Khan or secure your homeland against an imposing threat.

Total War: Shogun 2000 is a unique old school game that has great mechanics, interaction with NPCs, and the "Throne Room,", which is a room where your shogun is located and has many details and decorations. You can click on a character, and he'll tell you a story or a strategy. The voice lines are done well, and when emissaries enter your throne room, the animations are well made. The game graphics on the map are good for their age; the battle graphics and units look like they worked less on them; however, the voice lines, battle music, and army orders are very well made, better than in some other Total War games. Every event that happens is usually voice-lined, and when you send your ninjas to kill an enemy general or emissary, there are many different ways of attempting murder. Based on your target's level or location, your ninja will try to make the best attempt to kill his target. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes strategy games, and the game is only 5 euros.
