It's September 1, 1986. You take on the role of forty-something Meredith Weiss, who returns from the big city to her quiet hometown. She exchanges her busy career at a software company to fill in for her dad, the local mail carrier.

During her two-week stay in beautiful Providence Oaks, Oregon, she runs into a few familiar faces as well as plenty of new folk. As Meredith, you get to decide who to talk to, who to befriend and perhaps even start a romantic relationship with.

Whatever happens, at the end of her stint she'll have to make up her mind: return to her demanding job in the big city, or stay in the town she grew up in?

Play Lake and…

  • Escape to a beautiful, rustic environment without cellphones and the Internet.
  • Drive around the lake in your dad's trusty mail truck, or let the auto-pilot do the work.
  • Talk to a range of engaging characters, each with their own personalities and quirks.
  • Choose after-work activities: hang out with your friends, help out your neighbours or stay home and read a book.
  • Experience two weeks of branching story that doesn't shy away from slice-of-life themes.

I liked it. When you don't feel like thinking and just want to chill and drive around, it's the perfect game. I finished it in 8 hours I think.

What I loved about it was the scenery and the fact that you could auto-drive when you've reached previously visited places. The story is there but it's just a slice of life story.

I also have to mention that it's great that there aren't any smartphones (obviously because it's the 90's) so you have to actually talk to people face-to-face.

It's also LGBT friendly since you can romance a woman. Oh and there are cats you can pet.

Not giving a 95-100% due to some bugs in the game, like audio cutouts at the end parts of the game and sometimes for the radio button not working.

There could be other uses for this game.

Since the game is called Lake and there are boats in the game, it would be nice to travel around and do something else other than delivering mail.

Yes, it would be nice to rent a boat and drive it around the lake.

It would also be nice to be able to fish in the lake.

Things like that.

Optional things like that, would keep people playing the game even after they finished it.

But yeah, it's sort of a great game if you want something cozy and relaxing.

It's also great for the social interaction between characters.

In a certain way, mimics reality, mimics real life.

It's like taking to a friend in real life, but in this case, it all happens inside of a game.

Ive played this already on the XBOX and it was such a lovely game, and fancied playing it again but on the PC! I hope they bring out a LAKE 2 at some point, but this is such a lovely calming game. i really enjoyed it
