The top new FPS of 2025

An over-represented genre in the gaming industry for a long time now, first-person shooters continue to fill our consoles and PCs. This year 2025 will be no exception, with a host of studios set to try their luck with this kind of game.

Whether single-player or multiplayer, with a strong narrative dimension, plenty of gore or an original graphic style, there's no shortage of FPS at the moment. Here are the titles you need to check out in the coming days and weeks.

While it's clear that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be a commercial hit when it launches this year, there are other highly anticipated FPS that are sure to shine. Among the biggest productions there's Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which will be one of the Switch 2's major exclusives at the end of 2025. The Outer Worlds 2 is one to follow too, as Obsidian has improved on the formula of the first entry, which saw the light of day in 2019.

And how could we fail to mention Borderlands 4 as one of the most promising FPS? Gearbox has concocted a fourth episode rich in content, with a cooperative mode as enjoyable as ever. Techland, for its part, will be offering us Dying Light: The Beast. As for Killing Floor 3, it brings a small dose of action/horror to the table that couples perfectly with the gameplay of a classic shooter.

But the FPS genre can be fairly original too. When it comes to visuals, MOUSE: P.I. for Hire goes for a 1930s cartoon look. Unrecord aims for an almost disturbing photorealism taht places us in a police uniform with a pedestrian camera as a viewpoint.

Last but not least, there's also a number of ambitious FPS titles that still have no specific release date. Judas, the next production from the creator of BioShock, will depict a disconcerting universe and an exciting scenario. Terminator: Survivors will pay tribute to the universe of James Cameron's franchise with a cooperative open-world adventure featuring survival elements.
