The best games recently announced for 2025 and beyond

Even before Gamescom 2025 (which we will return to soon enough), we got announcements for several very promising games which will keep us busy over the coming months across all platforms. There are brand new franchises, adaptations, remasters, indies, and of course big-budget projects. In other words, there is something for absolutely everyone. In any case, let's take a look at these upcoming releases that will be hitting our consoles and PCs in 2025 and beyond.

Of course, we have to start with Battlefield 6. Electronic Arts' FPS made a strong impression at its presentation and then during its beta phase. Hundreds of thousands of players were able to test the multiplayer mode in preview. The campaign promises to be explosive, and a battle royale mode will even be available a little later. On paper, this sixth Battlefield has everything it needs to give Black Ops 7, which will be released in November, a run for its money. The end of this year will see a real war break out in the FPS category.

At long last, seven years after the release of the third installment, Darksiders 4 has been officially announced by THQ Nordic. We are getting a new third-person action title with a healthy dose of exploration and puzzles. The franchise had fallen into oblivion, yes, but it will be making a strong comeback soon enough. Still from the Austrian publisher, SpongeBob SquarePants will take us on a brand new adventure with SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tides. The famous sponge will team up with his friend Patrick to save Bikini Bottom from total ghostification. To wrap up with THQ Nordic, the excellent hack ‘n’ slash game Sacred 2 is getting remastered. The combat system will be revamped, bugs will be fixed, and HD textures will be added to the party.

Saber Interactive will soon be releasing an adaptation of a survival horror classic with Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival. This is not a simple reinterpretation of the films, but rather a new macabre adventure with action, horror, and first-person survival. In a completely different vein, Square Enix has also made a big splash by announcing an extremely promising RPG. Octopath Traveler 0 will feature the franchise's signature 2D-HD pixel art graphics in addition to its tactical battles. This is retro role-playing game that will tell a moving story in a kingdom with plenty of secrets to discover.

As for the more low-key titles, we can't forget Car Park Capital, which will show true originality. We will have to transform residential neighborhoods into parking lots and create a need for residents to use their cars. Shark Dentist is also a game with a very unusual concept, as this horror roguelike asks us to play the role of a shark dentist. We will have to treat the teeth of these huge predators and be careful not to get biten. Finally, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted will bring this classic tower defense game, in which plants face off against zombies, back into fashion. All this in a high-definition remaster with bonus new content.
