The best coop games in 2025

2025 is an excellent year for cooperative games. Whether online or locally via a shared screen, these titles deliver powerful emotions to share with one or more friends. In 2024, Helldivers 2 took the world by storm, delivering an experience based solely on collaboration in the face of hordes of enemies. Where many shooters are content to opt for a competitive dimension, Arrowhead Game Studios' production proved that cooperation is still capable of offering epic, hilarious, and intense gaming moments. Over the past few months (and in the months to come), other titles have chosen to place camaraderie at the heart of their formula. So, it's time to discover the best co-op games of 2025.

We must start with this ultra-original formula from PEAK. Here, we have a cooperative climbing game in which players must climb a mountain in the middle of a mysterious island. The slightest mistake can prove fatal for our avatar and our entire group. This title, which requires impeccable coordination, has already won over more than 10 million people worldwide. While the experience promises to be much darker and more mature, Little Nightmares III will also put cooperation at the center of its gameplay. While the experience promises to be much darker and more mature, Little Nightmares III will also place cooperation at the heart of its gameplay. This horror-themed adventure game invites two friends to team up and try to escape from terrifying monsters. Once again, danger will be everywhere and cooperation will be essential to escape this horrible place.

Of course, there are more traditional cooperative games. One example is Borderlands 4, which requires players to shoot everything that moves, either alone or with friends. Here, you simply loot the best weapons possible and take down gigantic bosses with your squad. In a similar vein, Dying Light: The Beast can bring together up to four people to face the dangers of Castor Woods together. Progress is even shared between users, who will be able to advance at the same pace. The goal is, of course, to help each other survive and collect valuable resources to progress more easily. In short, it's the most traditional co-op experience possible.

For players looking for a more demanding and challenging cooperative epic, FromSoftware launched Elden Ring Nightreign this year. This title takes the famous Souls-like formula and sprinkles it with a dose of co-op. The gameplay remains very strict, with every misstep severely punished. Our team of up to three players must face the most formidable bosses in the Elden Ring universe, and sometimes in Souls more generally. This is clearly not a game for everyone! As FromSoftware productions are mainly geared towards solo play, we appreciate the opportunity to explore this already iconic universe in good company.

Other games simply have a cooperative mode that is actually optional. One example is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which lets you play through its campaign in co-op mode. As for Monster Hunter Wilds, it allows hunters to team up to take down gigantic beasts. All of this is relatively secondary, but it's nice to have. This is in contrast to a game like Split Fiction, which is based solely on cooperative gameplay. Hazelight has achieved another feat after A Way Out and It Takes Two. Each player takes on the role of one of two heroines who must once again synchronize their actions to escape, solve a puzzle, or face a boss. This title, designed for co-op, is rich in varied sequences that echo the greatest genres in video games. And that's not to mention the compelling story told through charismatic characters.

Cooperative games can take many forms. They can be simple shooters or narratively powerful experiences that use co-op as a basis for gameplay that stands out from other productions. Grounded 2, ARC Raiders, Dune: Awakening, and Painkiller round out this impressive list of co-op games that you absolutely must discover with friends in 2025... or later. Indeed, the content of these titles is bound to evolve over time. So it will never be too late to immerse yourself in these worlds.
