The best coop games (Part 4)

We’re already at the 4th entry of the best coop games. Be it facing hordes of enemies, solving puzzles, or simply going on an adventure together, playing with others often transforms the experience. Wacky atmosphere, frantic FPS, or more relaxed simulation... Here’s a new selection of particularly interesting games to discover with others.

For those who enjoy horror, you don't want to miss out on The Outlast Trials. Unlike previous entries in the series, this title strongly emphasizes cooperation. Up to four players attempt to survive the trials of the Murkoff complex, avoiding terrifying creatures and completing various objectives. The immersion here is quite incredible, the maps are very enjoyable to explore, and it features plenty of content. This is by far one of the most impactful cooperative horror experiences in the gaming world, definitely worth checking out!

Let’s continue with a small game called Roboquest. This fast-paced roguelite FPS features procedurally generated levels as well as a wide variety of weapons and upgrades. Coop works wonders here, particularly thanks to complementary builds and different classes. Equally dynamic, Shadow Warrior 2 is a high-octane FPS that allows for many combat styles. Melee combat, heavy weapons, and special abilities are all on the menu, delivering spectacular and blood-soaked battles.

Let’s move to the dark side with Schedule I, which focuses mainly on management and shared progression. Players must develop their operation, organize resources, and collaborate to grow their criminal drug empire. Cooperation is of the essence here: each user may specialize in certain tasks, making the experience far more efficient and enjoyable as a group.

Focus Entertainment is a French publisher making strides in the cooperative games space. To name just two, there's SnowRunner lets players traverse harsh and realistic environments with large off-road vehicles. Transporting cargo, carving paths through mud, or helping each other out of impossible situations are all part of the experience. Meanwhile, **Evil West **features a campaign playable in co-op for two players, where you battle supernatural creatures. Its gameplay combines melee combat, firearms, and electric powers.

Finally, for something much, much cozier, you can turn to Dinkum, a life sim inspired by the evergreen Animal Crossing. Players can develop an island together, build infrastructure, welcome residents, explore, or gather resources. Alternatively, you can test your relationships with your best gaming partners in Fling to the Finish. The two players are tied together by a rope and must cooperate to get through obstacle-filled courses. The gameplay often leads to chaotic and hilarious moments, and even arguments over who’s worse than the other…

Ultimately, cooperation remains one of the best ways to share a memorable gaming experience. Psychological horror, traversing impossible terrain, or simply building a world together, these experiences often show just how much playing together can make some gameplay into something far, far bigger. And you, what’s your favorite co-op game?
