The best games of April 2026 (Part 2)

Here we have the second part of our selection for the best games of April 2026, covering the latter half of the month. This lineup also has its share of surprises, featuring interesting indie titles as well as big titles we've been anticipating a long time. Without further ado, let’s take a look at what’s in store.

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is a fast-paced first-person shooter inspired by 1930s cartoons. Its retro black-and-white animation is hand-drawn frame by frame, delivering a striking vintage style. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream marks the return of the wacky social sim franchise, with even more quirky interactions between characters. Next comes the first big production of this selection, Pragmata. This time, Capcom takes us on an ambitious science fiction adventure, blending lunar exploration with a mysterious narrative. A small twist: we are accompanied by an android named Diana, whom we carry on our back.

For those who enjoy long titles, let’s take a look at Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors. That was a mouthful, huh? This is a spin-off inspired by the previous game, featuring even more chaos and builds thanks to a turn-based card deck system with roguelite elements. Tides of Tomorrow also releases this month after a first delay. We’re looking at a futuristic narrative game promising an immersive experience based on the choices of other players. It's a rather rare concept, one that we'll have to see how it goes.

Kiln follows quite an interesting concept: it's a multiplayer game centered on creation and the transformation of matter. You shape your pottery, which is your playable character, gather friends, and duke it out in online arenas. After all, why not? Next is likely one of the month’s favorites. Outbound arrives on April 23. Following a hugely successful demo, the game has racked up over a million wishlists for its cozy survival experience set in a van. Relaxation guaranteed!

The only VR title in the selection, Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes, offers an even more immersive and terrifying version of the franchise’s unnerving universe. A gentle and poetic adventure, Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth takes players into a winter world inspired by the famous Moomins. The new production from DONT NOD is called Aphelion. Known for narrative-driven experiences, the developers deliver another story-focused adventure here, exploring introspection, isolation, and human relationships in a space setting.

A small and unusual adventure, Will: Follow The Light is a contemplative experience guided by light, blending puzzle-solving and exploration, also set in a polar environment. For two-wheel enthusiasts, the official sim MotoGP 26 is back this year with technical improvements and ever increasing realism. Neverness to Everness is a free-to-play urban open-world action RPG expected on multiple platforms. We take on the role of an anomaly hunter who accepts paranormal missions to earn money. You’ll be able to form a team of unique characters to help you navigate this vast city.

This selection’s cute moment comes with Adorable Adventures, which of course lives up to its name. It’s a family-friendly game focused on exploration and discovery, featuring a charming visual style that makes it accessible to everyone. Inspired by the comic of the same name, Invincible VS offers spectacular battles. Each character has their own abilities, and the action is fast-paced and intense. Here we have yet another adaptation, this time from an animated series. The Alfea fairies are coming back in Winx Club: Magic Is Back. However, the few previews shared so far leave some doubt about the game’s quality.

We end on a high note with SAROS, probably the most highly anticipated title of the month. A spiritual successor to Returnal, Housemarque returns with an evolution of its fast-paced third-person gameplay. In the shadow of a grim eclipse, the protagonist played by Rahul Kohli is a Soltari protector seeking answers on a polymorphic planet filled with dangerous inhabitants and dark secrets.

In addition to new releases, there are several games are receiving expansions. Soulmask: Shifting Sands introduces new desert areas to explore while enhancing survival mechanics. Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred brings new story content and fresh challenges. On the port side, Goat Simulator 3 and Human: Fall Flat are making their way to Switch 2. Meanwhile, Starfield is finally coming to PS5 after months of speculation.

In conclusion, as our two articles on the subject show, April 2026 is packed with exciting releases. From highly anticipated AAA titles to a wide range of smaller projects, there’s something for everyone. One thing is certain: your controller won’t be gathering dust anytime soon. Enjoy!
