Summer is now in full swing, and the first heat waves have already arrived. It’s a great excuse to stay cool indoors every now and then and enjoy some video games. July looks like it will be a busy month for gamers, with a new wave of releases featuring major franchises, indie titles, and highly anticipated sequels. Let’s take a look at our selection of the best games for the first half of July 2026.

New Games

Nintendo’s famous rhythm game series returns with Rhythm Heaven Groove, a new compilation of musical challenges based on precision and timing. Denshattack!, which lets you use a train as a skateboard, is also on the list, following a delay of the title.

Sports fans aren’t left out with EA Sports College Football 27 and Esports Manager 2026. The latter lets you take the helm of a professional esports team by managing players, strategies, training, and the organization’s development. Meanwhile, Backyard Baseball revives one of the most iconic sports games of the late 1990s with its blend of accessibility and humor. The game offers an arcade-style take on baseball with endearing characters and an atmosphere designed for all audiences.

Probably the biggest release of the month, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced on new platforms lets you rediscover one of the most beloved entries in the series. Combining piracy, maritime exploration, and stealth, the game offers an adventure that remains highly popular for its open world and its hero, Edward Kenway. This month also marks the official release of Palworld following an early access period that has already attracted tens of millions of players.

Expansions & DLC

Numerous expansions are on the way. Revelations expands the universe of Doom: The Dark Ages with new content designed to extend the brutal and spectacular combat experience. It introduces new gameplay scenarios and delves deeper into the franchise’s dark medieval world. The cozy Disney Dreamlight Valley adds a new area and additional content with the release of Honeyglow Woods.

The Alters: Last Variable delves deeper into the sci-fi universe of the excellent The Alters. What if one of our alter egos had decided to stay behind alone on this hostile planet, letting all the others leave? That’s what this generous expansion—featuring 20 hours of content—invites us to discover. Finally, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is getting a DLC called Endless Ragnarok, which is geared more toward endgame content and is therefore intended for the most advanced players.

Ports

This month, there are two interesting ports to check out. The arrival of High on Life 2 on Switch 2 allows a new audience to discover this humorous FPS from the creators of the Rick and Morty universe. With its talking weapons, offbeat humor, and colorful world, it offers an adventure that’s completely different from classic shooters. Digimon Story: Time Stranger is also coming to the same console, marking the return of a major RPG adventure centered on capturing, evolving, and battling Digimon.
